🖤 Heartless — Elsie Silver (Chestnut Springs #2) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ · 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ · 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
single dad. grumpy rancher. tiny adorable kid who stole my whole entire heart. reader — my mom heart went FERAL and the rest of me was… otherwise occupied. 😮💨 Heartless is the grumpy-sunshine, single-dad/nanny, age-gap cowboy romance that broke the scale for me — and I say that as someone who has given basically all of Elsie Silver's books five stars. THIS one is my favorite.
━━━ THE SETUP 🤠 ━━━ Cade Eaton is the eldest, broodiest Eaton brother — thirteen years older than Willa, gruff, closed-off, a man whose whole life has been duty, the ranch, and raising his son Luke alone after being left. Willa Grant is a firecracker city girl who takes the summer nanny job and proceeds to demolish every wall this man ever built. The truth-or-dare hot tub scene? iconic. And the slow burn is EXPERTLY paced — Elsie lets the chemistry actually simmer before it detonates.
━━━ THE MAN 😮💨 ━━━ the MOUTH on this man. verbally AND physically. it's a sin and I need confession. broad-shouldered rancher, calloused hands, filthy mouth — turns out that's my exact kryptonite and Elsie KNEW what she was doing to me. the spice was impeccable.
━━━ WHY IT'S THE ONE 🖤 ━━━ here's what makes it five stars and not just five-spice: the family. Willa and Luke's relationship is the most heartwarming thing I have ever consumed — she doesn't just fall for Cade, she becomes the mom that little boy needed, and it wrecked me in the softest way. Elsie balances "aww" and "OH" on the same page and never drops either. wholesome, cute, AND devastatingly hot. that's the whole magic.
Stephen Dexter and Vanessa Edwin on duet narration are perfection — Dexter's gruff cowboy voice should be a controlled substance.
funniest, swooniest, sweetest, hottest. my country-boy era started HERE and I am never leaving. 🤠🖤
