DNF at 45%. Five stars anyway.
Let me explain: this series EARNED five stars for what it put me through across nine books. The finale itself? I couldn't finish it. My heart physically could not take any more. After books 5, 6, 7, and 8 broke me over and over and OVER again, I hit 45% of this book and my body said "no more." Self-preservation won.
I know it ends. I know things happen. I know people probably died and came back and died again because that's what these twisted sisters DO. But I couldn't watch it happen in real time anymore. I was too attached, too bruised, too emotionally invested to survive whatever they had planned.
Five stars because this series consumed my entire life for months. Five stars because I re-read multiple books. Five stars because even DNF-ing the finale, I still think about these characters constantly. That's power. That's what good storytelling does — it makes you care so much it hurts too much to keep going.
⭐ 5/5 stars. DNF'd out of love, not disinterest. The twisted sisters won.
