New Orleans. A haunted mystery house. A missing sister. A Danny Phantom-ass ghost who has NO BUSINESS being that hot. I was SOLD from page one.
The atmosphere in this book was immaculate — dripping with gothic Southern energy, creepy as hell, and somehow sexy at the same time? The mystery house with its trials and secrets and things lurking in every shadow had me completely hooked. I needed to know what happened to her sister and I needed to know NOW.
And the ghost MMC — listen, I don't know how Kaylie Smith made me attracted to a SPECTRAL BEING but here we are. Hot, mysterious, dangerous, and somehow tender underneath all that supernatural chaos. The spice between them was creative and genuinely steamy — points for making ghost romance WORK.
The cat. The gore. The trials she had to survive. Every layer of this book peeled back to reveal something darker and more twisted underneath. It was like a haunted house you couldn't leave — terrifying but you WANTED to keep going deeper.
And that ending?? THAT ENDING??? I was not prepared. I was not okay. I closed the book and stared at my ceiling processing for an unreasonable amount of time.
👻 5/5 stars. Sexy ghosts, gothic horror, and an ending that haunted ME. Outstanding.
