This book wrecked me. I don't even fully remember WHY — the details have blurred together — but I know I was crying. I know I was depressed for a solid week after finishing it. That's not an exaggeration. A WEEK.
The darkness that started creeping in at book 4? It swallowed this one whole. Whatever happened to these characters — the twins, the Heirs, everyone I'd grown attached to — it broke something in me. The authors took every ounce of hope and crushed it.
I'm still reading. I'm still addicted. But at this point I'm not sure if I'm enjoying it or just trauma-bonded to this series. There's a fine line between "I can't put it down because it's good" and "I can't put it down because I need to know everyone survives." This was the latter.
💔 3/5 stars. I don't remember the plot but I remember the pain. That says enough.
