This is where the crack stopped being fun and started being DARK.
Clara? Hated her. Lionel? Hated him with every fiber of my being. Watching the twins suffer — AGAIN, always, constantly — started to feel less like dramatic tension and more like emotional warfare on the reader. I signed up for trashy fae drama, not anxiety attacks.
Still addictive. Still couldn't stop reading. But the dopamine whiplash was REAL — one chapter I'm screaming with joy, the next I'm spiraling with dread. This series went from reality TV chaos to "am I okay? Is anyone okay? Why am I doing this to myself?" territory.
The tone shift from the first three books was noticeable. The stakes got real. The consequences got permanent. The fun got laced with something heavier. And I kept reading anyway because I'm in too deep to stop now.
