I gave this six stars. Goodreads won't let me but I need you to know that.

Two serial killers. Falling in love. Over YEARS. While playing a competitive game of hunting other serial killers. If that premise doesn't immediately grab you, this book isn't for you and honestly I feel sorry for you.

Brynne Weaver is a goddamn unicorn of an author. She's hilarious — the dark humor had me cackling out loud in public like a feral person. She's disgusting — the semen ice cream scene exists and I will never recover from it. She's sexy — the SPICE in this book was unreal. And somehow through all the blood and chaos and unhinged behavior, she told a genuinely creative, compelling love story that made me feel THINGS.

Also this was my introduction to Joe Arden on audiobook narration and I have never been the same person since. That man's voice is a war crime. I was not prepared. I am still not okay.

This book made me realize that morally bankrupt characters are my love language. Two terrible people being terrible together but soft for each other? INJECT IT INTO MY VEINS. The longing. The years of buildup. The banter. The gore. The tenderness hidden under all that blood. Perfection.

I was genuinely unwell after finishing this. In the best way.

🔪 6/5 stars. Yes I'm breaking the scale. No I will not apologize.
