Their meet cute was him STABBING HER. That's it. That's the hook. I was sold immediately.
He stabbed her, then kept her in a cage, and somehow — SOMEHOW — they bonded. The absolute unhinged escalation of this relationship had me in a chokehold from start to finish. The enemies-to-lovers pipeline has never been more violent or more effective.
Then she had to prove herself in trials and used her BRAIN to win — not brute strength, not magic handed to her on a platter — her actual intelligence. Love a FMC who outsmarts everyone in the room.
And THEN. The unreliable narrator twist. She KILLED HIM. Because she was a Seelie Court assassin THE ENTIRE TIME. She lied about EVERYTHING. I was screaming. Actual tears. The kind of plot twist that makes you want to immediately reread the whole book just to catch every clue you missed.
This book said "what if the FMC was the villain all along?" and I said "MORE PLEASE."
🗡️ 4/5 stars. He stabbed her. She stabbed him back. Romance.
